VTSPC Programs

VTSPC’s mission is to create health-promoting communities in which schools, Institutions of Higher Education, public and private agencies, and people of all ages have the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and resources to reduce the risk of suicide.

Umatter® Programs

Umatter® is a suicide prevention program that teaches young people and adults to recognize and address depression and risk factors and build strengths through self-care and community action.

Engagement Areas

If Americans want to improve health and educational outcomes, and reduce costs dramatically, we need to assist schools, workplaces, and communities to encourage safe and healthy behaviors and life styles. CHL works with communities to identify needs and find solutions for addressing them.

Family involvement in children’s learning improves academic performance, attendance, graduation and dropout rates, reduces at-risk behaviors and is positive for lifelong health! Be a partner in your child’s education! Contact your local school and ask how you can partner in your child’s education.

A shift is taking place in public health from a focus on “preventing” disease (an illness model) towards “promoting” mental health (a wellness model). While there is obviously a great overlap in these two things in practice, wellness promotion facilitates a whole health and whole society approach and focuses on the big picture.
