This webinar will provide an overview of suicide risk factors and how to assess for risk. Individuals who have challenges with both substance misuse and mental health conditions may also struggle with suicidal challenges. This webinar will take a closer look at this population to help viewers better understand the unique risks faced by people with co-occurring disorders.
Objectives:
- Help attendees gain a deeper understanding of suicide risk factors & how to assess for risk
- Help attendees better understand some unique risk factors and considerations for those that struggle with co-occurring disorders when it comes to suicide risk
- Examine safety planning for those at risk of suicide, as well as available resources to help in mitigating that risk

About the trainer:
Tony Stevens (MS, LCMHC)
Tony Stevens has been employed at Northwestern Counseling & Support Services since 2002 as the program manager of Emergency Services. He completed his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Vermont in 2002 and has been involved in Suicide Prevention work over the past 22 years. Tony is also an instructor for Team Two, an innovative program in Vermont that focuses on collaboration between law enforcement, dispatchers, EMTs and Crisis Teams. He is also co-facilitates a Survivor of Suicide Loss Support group that meets monthly in St. Albans. Tony is known for his extremely dry presentations and his complete lack of a sense of humor.
