ABOUT THIS TRAINING
Participants engage in a full training day to develop personal skills and confidence to bring Umatter® Suicide Prevention Awareness training to their community or workplace. You will learn to train others in basic knowledge and skills of suicide prevention, including:
- Societal myths and Attitudes
- Use of sensitive language
- Risk factors and warning signs
- Protective factors
- Considerations for populations at risk
- Examples of what to do or say
- Resources to get help
- Deepen understanding of risk factors and warning signs
- Develop skills and competencies to facilitate conversations about suicide
- Identify with confidence the next steps in getting help
- Learn presenter engagement skills to facilitate a workshop
- Develop confidence in sharing sensitive material with an audience
- Learn the role of a facilitator and helper
- Learn strategies for planning future training(s)
Full Day In-Person Training
November 7, 2023

Lunch will be provided
Experience a full Suicide Awareness workshop in the morning and spend the afternoon preparing to deliver awareness training to others. Attendees will be provided a Trainer’s Manual, Scripted notes, handouts, and all materials needed to carry out a workshop of their own.
Cost $400 per person.
Refund Policy: Refunds up to 7 days before the event. Eventbrite’s fee is nonrefundable (Registration may be transferred to another person.)

About the Trainers:
Karen Carreira, MA, LMHC (she/her) Suicide Prevention and Umatter® Program Specialist Center for Health and Learning
Karen brings over 20 years of human service experience to this training, working as an LMHC, Board Certified Music Therapist, and Program Director for service providers, including inpatient, outpatient, partial hospital, residential, and post-secondary special education. Her skills and attitude support respect and equity and a dedication to superior standards for service delivery. In addition to Umatter Programs, Karen is a certified trainer in QPR, Mental Health First Aid, and AFSP’s Talk Saves Lives.
Who Should Attend?
Individuals in training/education roles interested in facilitating suicide prevention awareness workshops in their workplace, community, or school.
Attending the training with someone from your area or organization who can train along with you as your co-trainer is recommended.
