After a pivot to online offerings over the last two years, the Center for Health and Learning (CHL) has successfully moved into offering hybrid education, training, and engagement opportunities. CHL is now offering Umatter®, a set of proprietary trainings on suicide prevention and mental health promotion that includes resources targeted to youth, parents, schools, professionals in health care and mental health, and general communities in an online format.
In the first half of 2023, there are many ways to engage in the Umatter© program suite. Every month, CHL will offer a live virtual Umatter© Suicide Prevention Awareness and Skills training. Learn a few simple steps that can help save lives. Sign up here.
In March, Umatter for Schools© begins a four-week program where school teams of 2+ come together to learn and receive support in implementing suicide prevention programming in their school community, available in 4 live virtual sessions. Learn more.
On Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, CHL will offer adult learners the opportunity to come together at the Capital Plaza in Montpelier for a day-long Training of Trainers. With this certification, one can bring the work of prevention and life-saving skills directly to their community and lead a 90-minute Umatter® Awareness training. Learn more here.
Finally, if an organization is interested in bringing Umatter© training directly to their organization, CHL can collaborate and create a custom experience that speaks directly to the needs of your group in a virtual or onsite format.
“Umatter® is a positive force in the complex space of mental health education and suicide prevention. Their trainers effectively navigate content, questions, and conversation to equip learners with tools and resources we can use – today,” Sue Hoeppner, Training Participant and Founder of project HOePpnEr.
These are free and low-cost training offered by the VT Suicide Prevention Center, a Center for Health and Learning program. Training opportunities are supported by Facing Suicide VT, a statewide prevention initiative coordinated by the VT Departments of Health and Mental Health and the Center for Health and Learning through funding from the Centers for Disease Control and the Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Program.
